Ambassador of Ukraine to Singapore Pavlo Sultansky live on Bloomberg TV
On September 9, 2014 Ambassador of Ukraine Pavlo Sultansky speaking with Angie Lau on Bloomberg Television's "First Up" said that calling the situation in the east of Ukraine a ceasefire would be an exaggeration. Only during the previous day Russian-terrorist groups fired at Ukrainian side 45 times! So what adherence to obligations can we talk about?
Concerning the last NATO summit and the newly agreed EU decision regarding further restrictions to Russia Ambassador stated: sanctions and other means of active influence on aggressor are an effective and imperative tool to make the Kremlin understand that the war against Ukraine leads Russia to inevitable disaster. Moscow’s sanctions against the western producers of agricultural goods, by the way, hit the Russians themselves by the leap of food retail prices.
Today, when the preliminary findings on the MH17 tragedy are expected to be made public Ambassador emphasized that Russia’s war against Ukraine is not a local conflict, it undermines the global order. Singapore took unequivocal position on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, but many Asian countries still underestimate the global threat generated by Moscow which finances terrorist groups, sends mercenaries and weapons, and two weeks ago sent its regular army to Ukrainian territory.
It was stressed that in order to make Putin and his clique return to the common sense the sanctions should be steadily continued and strengthened, more countries should join, Asian states in particular, until the Kremlin leaders are entirely stopped through the joint efforts.
