During 15-26 May 2013 the 23^rd European Union Film Festival was held in Singapore. It was the most representative since it had been launched – 28 movies were screened in Shaw Lido Theaters.

Ukraine was invited to participate in the EU Film Festival for the first time. Ukrainian film by Mykhailo Illienko “FireCrosser” supported by the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine and the Embassy of Ukraine in Singapore was screened on 25 May 2013.

Prior to the film screening Ambassador of Ukraine in Singapore Pavlo Sultansky addressed to the viewers. In his speech, among others, he stated that Ukrainian film participation for this time is quite symbolic, because in 2013 the EU and Ukraine are supposed to sign the Association Agreement. He thanked the organizers of the Festival and also highlighted assistance of Marc Ungeheuer, Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union in Singapore, and Waldemar Dubaniowski, Ambassador of Poland, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
