On 2 August 2013 Ambassador of Ukraine Pavlo Sultansky met the Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore Mdm Halimah Yacob.

Ambassador conveyed to the Speaker the letter from Volodymyr Rybak, Chairman of Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine, with greetings on the occasion of the National Day of Singapore.

The current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, especially its parliamentary dimension, were discussed.

As the letter from V.Rybak contained invitation for Mdm H.Yacob to visit Ukraine which she gratefully accepted, it was noted that such a trip may significantly enrich the range of Ukraine-Singapore relations.

The interlocutors also discussed exchanges between groups of parliamentarians. It was mentioned that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine had recently established the “Singapore Friendship Group” and in the Singapore Parliament a large group of MPs formed the “European Team”. Direct ties between legislators will facilitate Ukraine-Singapore cooperation in all fields: political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and, in particular, help increasing the efficiency of legislative activity.
