Dear citizens of Ukraine and Ukrainian residents of Singapore!
Ukrainian State is threatened with war by those who till now is formally referred to as our strategic partner.
On March 1, 2014, not only each of us, Ukrainians, but the whole civilized world were shocked with the unanimously adopted by Russian lawmakers call for war against Ukraine.
I am not going to analyze the relevant international obligations that the Russian side thus ignored. They are duly outlined in the Information on guarantees of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of territory and borders of Ukraine, PACTA SUNT SERVANDA.
One point in this respect must be recalled: the Russian Federation in 1994 has become along with the U.S. and Great Britain, a signatory of the Budapest Memorandum, according to which this country guarantees(!) sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of the borders of Ukraine. It was under this Memorandum that Ukraine renounced nuclear weapons on its territory.
I want to address each of you and remind some simple things.
First, let us remain worthy representatives of the world wide Ukrainian community! For me, this means that we respect the legislation of Singapore, where we live now. It means, that in times of incredible threat to our country we do everything we can to protect and strengthen the Ukrainian State in a legal manner only, correlating our actions with local law, traditions and norms of behavior.
For me - and probably for each of you - it also means, that ordinary Russian citizens and Russian Parliament with the state leadership insane decisions are not the same thing. So patiently and reasonably explain to all your friends and acquaintances, especially the Russians, that freedom loving Ukrainians who have just got rid of the gloom of dictatorship in their God-given land, has nothing to do with Russophobia or any other form of discrimination.
Do not remain indifferent, be both prudent and worthy representatives of the multimillion Ukrainstvo wherever presently you live.
Finally. Ordeals are ahead of us. But let us believe that Ukraine being unprecedentedly supported by the world community will overcome this calamity.
