On 19 March 2014 Ambassador of Ukraine to Singapore Pavlo Sultansky gave a live interview to channel CNBC Asia Pacific.

He shared his views on the issue of Ukrainian budget that was robbed by the ousted regime. The high remarks were given to the efforts of international community, the Western countries first of all, to support the country’s balance of payments and measures taken to strengthen the defense capability and the national economy as a whole, especially after annexation of Crimea by the Kremlin. It was noted that a few hours after Moscow announced Crimea as a new subject of the federation, a Ukrainian tourist of Crimean residency addressed the Embassy of Ukraine in Singapore for help as she couldn’t access her bank account in Crimea any more.

It was also underlined that Ukraine managed to mobilize its Armed Forces despite they were maliciously destroyed over the years, and is now ready to fight back the invaders. We should realize that the aggressor is a nuclear state and has disproportionately bigger military resources than Ukraine. Under any circumstances, the former so-called strategic partner of Ukraine should be tamed by negotiation tools and through the concerted efforts of international community.

When asked about the behavior and possible further actions of Gazprom, the Ambassador noted that the energy strategy of Russia for many years was used by neighboring country’s regime as the first and foremost lever in achieving imperial goals. But the assumption that Russia will once again close the tap at the border with Ukraine is rather questionable: Russia’s budget is critically dependent on the supply of natural gas to European consumers.

Commenting on the future of the occupied peninsula, Ambassador stressed that the region has been and will remain an integral part of the Ukrainian state.

Ambassador expressed gratitude to the leadership of Singapore, which strongly condemned Russia's intervention. Using example of Moscow's brutal violation of basic principles of international law and its commitment to protect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity Singapore high-ranked officials raised question about vulnerability of the world order.
