The escalation of tensions in Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine generated by Russian special forces is widely covered by the Singapore media.

Recent seizures of administrative buildings in the said regions by militants in unmarked camouflage and bearing weapons of Russian origin left no doubts of direct involvement, in fact – coordination, of Moscow. The goals are to justify by all means in the eyes of world community the Russia’s blatant disregard of international laws and to legitimize Kremlin’s interference in the internal affairs not only in Ukraine but also in other neighboring countries.

The Ambassador reiterated that Moscow apparently was seeking to break down the quadrilateral meeting of foreign ministers in Switzerland scheduled for 17 April 2014.

"Massiveness" of unrest in the East and South is explained by the unprecedented bribery and "zombiing" by Kremlin’s propaganda of the local population, including criminal elements who are not interested in neither slogans under which they act, nor objectives pursued by the aggressor.

Ambassador denied the assumption of the possibility of a repetition of "Crimean" scenario in the Eastern Ukraine and stressed that Ukraine, like the rest of the civilized world, Singapore inclusive, does not consider the temporary occupation of Crimea as a reason to question the territorial integrity of the Ukrainian State.
