Reminiscences of Ambassador Oleksandr Horin in “The Little Red Dot”
31 October 2014 06:05

Launch of “The Little Red Dot” Volume III took place in presence of Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore K Shanmugam, heads of the diplomatic missions and local media on October 30, 2014 at the Singapore National Library Board. The event among others was attended by Ambassador of Ukraine Pavlo Sultansky.

The book compiles reflections of the heads of diplomatic missions formerly accredited to Singapore. Ukraine’s former Ambassador to Singapore, and now to the Netherlands, Oleksandr Gorin, who attended the ceremony and received a copy of the publication from Minister K Shanmugam, was among the 61 co-authors of the book from 43 countries.

Professor and Special Advisor Tommy Koh on behalf of the Institute of Policy Studies and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy expressed his gratitude to the foreign diplomats-authors for their unbiased and sincere style and for criticism particularly.

The series takes the name Little Red Dot from the statements of former Indonesian President B.J.Habibie who in the late 90s of XX century reminded Singapore of its smallness and therefore that it should know its place in life. Minister K Shanmugam speaking at the event noted: “small yes, but steely, determined, resolute, successful and influential”.

The third volume of “The Little Red Dot” was published for the 50th Anniversary of the city-state to be celebrated in August 2015.
