Known in the world for his firm position on the priority of international law and the need for strict compliance with it by all the subjects, K.Annan noted that big powers often resort to treachery as a mean to satisfy their ambitions. At the same time, their leaders do not realize that abuse of the law sooner or later turns against aggressors. Based on this thesis, the Ambassador of Ukraine drew the Nobel Peace Prize laureate's attention to the facts of disregard of international law by Russia through seizing of Ukraine's Autonomous Republic of Crimea and parts of Donbas and its use of veto at the UN Security Council vote on the establishment of the tribunal relating to the MH17 tragedy. These topics were supported by other disputants.

Former Secretary General, referring to his rich experience of attempting to reform the UN, the Security Council in particular, acknowledged that the Organization that was created immediately after the WWII yet operates according to principles formed 70 years ago and requires significant changes to become relevant to current realities. Although, achieving common solution of these urgent problems is extremely difficult.

The event was attended by heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Singapore, business leaders and numerous media representatives.
