Memorial service for the victims of Chornobyl catastrophe took place at Dormition Russian Orthodox Church (Singapore) on 24 April. The church’s parishioners and Embassy staff with their family members were present at the event.
In his speech after the prayer father Oleksander stressed on the need to jointly withstand similar challenges to mankind, recalling the events at the NPP in Fukushima (Japan) as an example that the tragedies similar to Chornobyl may occur in any country. A special tribute the priest urged to make to all those who struggled with the terrible disaster that happened at Ukrainian soil 26 years ago at the cost of their health and even lives.
