On 24 February 2024, the second anniversary since russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ambassador of Ukraine to Singapore H.E. Kateryna Zelenko made opening remarks at the screening of the award-winning documentary «20 Days in Mariupol».
The film is directed by Mstyslav Chernov, who was part of a team of Associated Press journalists who were trapped in Mariupol. They were the only international reporters left in the city. In a statement, Chernov said, “The suffering and destruction you see in the documentary continues today as the war in Ukraine rages on. It is crucial that the world knows the stories of Mariupol’s residents and the persistent fight of the Ukrainian people.” The AP team won two Pulitzer Prizes, for public service journalism and breaking news photography, and Chernov won a Directors Guild of America award.
The screening was organized by Singapore Film Society, Singapore Press Club in collaboration with the Embassy of Ukraine in Singapore and the European Union Delegation to Singapore.
Due to high demand the Projector cinema (Golden Mile) will be hosting second screening on 3 March 2024 - https://theprojector.sg/films-and-events/20-days-in-mariupol/
