On the 23rd of August the panel discussion "Towards a Nuclear-Free World" was held in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, chaired by Prof. K.Mahbubani, Dean. Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Singapore Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev spoke about enormous human and material losses as a result of nuclear weapons testing by the Soviet Union nearby Semipalatinsk, Kazakhstan.
Prof. K.Bajpai and Dr. G.Rethinaraj both shared their vision of the future with and without nuclear weapons, and other issues related to nuclear industries.
Problems of the nuclear weapon, as well as peaceful use of nuclear energy were debated afterwards. Taking part in the event Ambassador of Ukraine Pavlo Sultansky shared his views on how the Ukrainian society react to the abandonment of the third world's nuclear arsenal that remained in the country after collapse of the USSR, and what the Chornobyl disaster turned to Ukraine.
