Dear Mr Stanley Lim, FIATA President,
Distinguished guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is my pleasure and honour to be together with you at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre at this prestigious event.
FIATA World Congress is an exciting opportunity of learning and sharing of industry practices amongst logisticians all over the world especially in times of economic uncertainty worldwide.
I’m happy to welcome a delegation of my fellow countrymen, chaired by Mr Oleh Platonov, President of the “UkrZovnishTrans” Association.
I’m convinced that members of the delegation will do their best to tell you about existing opportunities while cooperating with Ukraine, including VIKING Train as well as other emerging possibilities and prospects in transportation and logistics in Ukraine.
In my view, vast and dynamic markets in Central Eastern Europe and South East Asia, and shareholders in particular, will undoubtedly benefit setting up comprehensive collaboration in the relevant spheres. Especially promising such prospects are in view of the expected soonest conclusion of Ukraine-EU Association Agreement and steadfast approximation of Ukrainian legal basis to the Union’s norms and rules.
It was exactly 3 years ago when then Minister-Mentor Lee Kuan Yew visited Ukraine and shared views with President V.Yanukovich on the ambitious blueprint of Ukraine-Singapore interaction. Transit capacity of both countries were underscored then.
When Ukrainian President paid State visit later on, two sides approved Joint statement, where transport and logistics cooperation was emphasized particularly. Hence both Governments are targeted at better cooperation in this brunch of economy.
In general, Minister Lui Tack Yew reconfirmed such viewpoint in his speech before you yesterday.
In the end, I would like to encourage all of you to examine much untapped opportunities, identify interests and participate in numerous projects in Ukraine and Black Sea region, which are being implemented now or will be realized soon over there.
We as an Embassy will be most happy to be helpful in you relevant activity.
