On 11 March 2014 the members of the Rotary Club of Jurong Town warmly welcomed Ambassador of Ukraine Pavlo Sultansky, who has not once shared with them his thoughts on Ukraine-Singapore relations, told about Ukraine’s history and modernity.
They particularly debated on the sensitive for Singapore issue: assault by the bigger state – Russia of smaller state – Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This paradigm is historically relevant for Singaporeans, they remarked.
In this regard, the Rotarians mentioned the comprehensive stance on the Russian military intervention in Ukraine pronounced by the Foreign Minister K.Shanmugam at the recent Singapore Parliament sitting and then commented on public by the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
It was reiterated that the system of international law that seemed harmonious might be completely leveled in the hands of the enraged politicians in power.
The Rotarians wished courage, endurance and sure victory for Ukrainian people while assuring of their support and friendship and saying that many Singaporeans now live “with Ukraine in their hearts”.
