May 9, 2014 dozens of Ukrainians who reside in Singapore met to combine their efforts on establishing a national center.

The initiators, Vitaly Chaika, Alexander Kalinin and Anna Coen, introduced their plan and proposed agenda for the discussion: support for the idea of creating a center, the prospects of its registration, membership criteria and more.

The participants suggested lots of activities, so it appeared that the idea of forming Ukrainian center in Singapore was fully supported. In particular, the importance of creating conditions for studying of Ukrainian language and culture for local kids in Ukrainian and mixed families was emphasized, as well as joint leisure and festive celebration of the dates on Ukrainian calendar, supporting cultural and humanitarian projects, etc.

It was agreed to jointly work through the issues raised and hold the next in a few weeks.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Singapore representatives were invited to particiapate in the meeting. Ambassador P.Sultansky in his address offered a moment of silence to honour the memory of all those who tributed their lives in the struggle for Ukraine during the World War II. He congratulated the Ukrainians with the start of work on establishment of their own center in Singapore.

Consul of the Embassy N.Zhynkina spoke about preparations for the presidential elections and encouraged Ukrainians to participate in the voting to be held at the Embassy on 25 May this year.

The "Revolution of dignity" exhibition provided by Ukrainian activists from Kuala Lumpur was displayed alongside the gathering.
