Dear Ukrainians of Singapore, When celebrating the Independence Day and the State Flag Day last year, who of us could imagine the world would be and what would happen to us on the 23 anniversary of approval by the Verkhovna Rada [parliament] of Ukraine of the fateful decision on the Independence?
Certainly, it is a rhetoric question.
I would dare to suggest that several months ago the vast majority of us did not imagine a probability of the Horde bandits invasion from the East on our territory, "brotherly" annexation of the Crimea, nearly three hundred victims of MH17 downed by terrorists, thousands killed and injured in the Moscow-waged so-called hybrid war against Ukraine, huge devastation in the Donbas planned by the Kremlin and carried on by its cronies, and many more crimes of convulsing subempire. In fact, how could anyone with common sense envision that the leadership of the Nuclear Club member-state, permanent member of the UN Security Council and the member of almost all the major multilateral security arrangements would rush to reverse the flow of the river of time?
Both tragic and heroic are the circumstances under which we celebrate the 23rd National Day this year.
Saying this, I can not but share the opinion of those who insist on counting the true Ukrainian independence since the victory of the Revolution of Dignity in February 2014.
With all the sinister circumstances, the fait accompli [an accomplished fact] is that we are a state-building nation, capable to unite facing the threat to our independence, ready to sacrifice our lives for our own freedom and the future of our offspring.
It inspires - to be a Ukrainian, to line up under the yellow-blue flags, to be proud of the unique Ukrainian Trident, and to high-spiritedly sing our Anthem: "Ukraine's glory has not perished, nor her freedom. Upon us, brothers Ukrainians, fate shall smile once again."
I am sure that since now on we will especially stress on "Our enemies will vanish."
Congratulations, Ukrainians in Singapore,
Happy National Flag and Independence Day!
Glory to Ukraine!
With respect to all of you,
Pavlo Sultansky
