On January 13-14, 2017 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin paid an official visit to Brunei Darussalam.
The visit coincided with the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin had audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, as well as with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah. There were also separate meetings with Honorable Pehin Dato Lim Jock Seng, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II, as well as Honorable Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali Bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism of Brunei Darussalam.
During negotiations the Parties exchanged views on a number of topical issues of bilateral ties, including revitalizing trade and economic cooperation, expansion of the legal framework and reinforcing mutual support within international organizations.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister invited his Bruneian counterpart to visit Ukraine and conveyed President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko’s invitation to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah to visit Ukraine at His convenience.
